EQUIPE CERÁMICAS INAUGURATES ITS FIRST 100% ELECTRIC KILN: A STEP TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY.
On September 12, EQUIPE CERAMICAS presented its innovative 100% electric kiln at its facilities in Onda, Castellón. The event was attended by local authorities, industry professionals and the general public, who were able to see this milestone in the ceramic industry first-hand.This kiln, the result of an R&D&I project, has been developed in collaboration with the Jaume I University, the Institute of Ceramic Technology (ITC-AICE), the company SYSTEM FOC and EQUIPE Cerámicas. As part of the ITALCER GROUP, EQUIPE reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, a fundamental and distinctive pillar of the group. The project aims to completely eliminate CO2 emissions in the ceramic firing phase, all without compromising the technical quality or sustainability of the products manufactured. This breakthrough is a decisive first step towards meeting the CO2 emissions reduction targets of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. It is worth noting that traditional ceramic kilns, powered by natural gas (the fossil fuel with the lowest environmental impact), consume approximately 60% of the total energy of the production process in the firing phase. Therefore, decarbonisation of this stage is essential to reduce emissions in the sector. The new electric kiln mainly uses energy from renewable sources and is more efficient than conventional kilns, achieving a significant reduction in energy consumption. This innovation is tangible proof of EQUIPE’s commitment to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future. With this initiative, EQUIPE Cerámicas continues to position itself as a leader in the transition towards a more ecological and responsible ceramic production model, aligning itself with the demands of a world increasingly aware of the climate emergency.
