Environment

At EQUIPE, environmental protection is a fundamental priority. We are committed to implementing sustainable practices in all our operations, reducing the consumption of natural resources and minimising our ecological footprint. We encourage recycling and reuse of materials, adopt renewable energy and promote energy efficiency. In addition, we actively work on biodiversity conservation and support initiatives that benefit the natural environment and local communities. Our mission is to contribute to a greener and more sustainable future for generations to come.

Technical certifications

  • Equipe Cerámicas products can be used to obtain LEEDBREEAM or VERDE points in different categories of the rating systems, depending on their use:

    • Recycled material content.
    • Easy to care for, with no need for aggressive chemical substances.
    • Water consumption. (e.g. using a tile with an impervious surface on terraces, roofs or facades to collect rainwater, or using a product that is easy to care for since it will require less water for cleaning purposes).

LEEDBREEAM and VERDE are green building certification systems, which assess buildings as opposed to products. When products by Equipe Cerámicas are used in building projects, they can contribute to the achievement of a certain rating for that building by obtaining more points than other alternative products.

With these green certification systems (LEEDBREEAM and VERDEthird-party checks are conducted and successful building projects are certified as having been designed and built using strategies conceived to improve on key environmental aspects of their design, such as energy saving, efficient water consumption, a reduction in C02 emissions, improvements to the building’s indoor environmental quality, the use of recycled materials, the use of local raw materials close to the production plant so as to cut down on transport etc.

Equipe Cerámicas products are designed to help architects obtain certain points or credits awarded by these green certification systems, thus facilitating the materials specification process.

  • Equipe Cerámicas ensures the environmental excellence of its products and services,
we have the Environmental Product Declarations (DAP)
in accordance with the International Standard ISO 14025,
which defines the requirements that these environmental Declarations must meet,
including verification by AENOR granted in 2020.

These Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) provide a reliable, relevant, transparent, comparable and verifiable environmental profile that highlights an environmentally friendly product based on life cycle information (LCA) in accordance with international standards and data. quantified environmental.

The life cycle analysis (LCA) on which the DAP is is prepared in accordance with Product Category Rules (RCP) published as a technical standard or by a recognized Program. These RCPs ensure consistent criteria for a family of products with equivalent functions.

  • We also have the French environmental label on emissions to indoor air
    (Émissions dans láir intérieur).

Since January 2013, all construction and decoration products that are marketed on the French market must have this new environmental label. This ecolabel identifies products with an emissions class (A +, A, B, C) based on the results of VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions tests according to the ISO 16000 series of standards.

This label is awarded to those construction materials that contribute to a healthy and environmentally friendly habitat, in such a way that they give the possibility to the health-conscious consumer, concerned with defending the environment, to protect themselves in their residential environment, in the face of the harmful effects on the health of the construction and decoration materials that you introduce into your home or workplace.

  • CE markings on tiles. User safety.

This is not a quality mark but a guarantee that certain safety requirements have been met before a product can be sold. All ceramic tiles in circulation in the European Union must comply with the requirements of the CE marking, regardless of the quality of the tiles.

Under the European Construction Products Regulation, all building projects must be planned and executed in a way that does not compromise the safety of people, pets or goods or harm the environment.

Equipe Cerámicas’s ceramic tiles have a declaration of performance (formerly known as a declaration of conformity) available to all European Union customers wishing to see it. This contains details of how the product performs in terms of key safety criteria (fire, mechanical and slip resistance; heavy metal emissions; bonding strength with different adhesives; durability etc.). On the packaging, summarized information can be found, together with the CE marking.

    CE - European Certification
  • Equipe Cerámicas, in its effort to maintain the environment, uses recycled material and uncoloured cardboard in its packaging, thus saving large amounts of paper.

Equipe Cerámicas is committed to optimizing water management, based on the principles of reuse and optimization of water in different processes. In addition, it is committed to the constant application of energy efficiency criteria in its facilities and activities, as well as the use of land with a high percentage of recycled material

    Interseroh Certificate

During the year 2021 we achieve save around 72.000 kl of resources, both paper and plastics. Consequently, we managed to reduce our production of greenhouse gases by around 7.995 kilos. Thanks to that, we obtained the Interseroh certificate.

  • Equipe Cerámicas obtains the Healthy Product Declaration (HPD)

Equipe Cerámicas reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and transparency in the construction industry by publishing its Healthy Product Declaration (HPD).

Equipe Cerámicas manufactures its products using natural raw materials, such as feldspars, sands, clays and inorganic pigments. To ensure transparency in this regard, we have obtained a Healthy Product Declaration (HPD).

A self-declaration about the chemical composition of the product through which the user can check the level and type of hazard related to the components of the products in construction.

In addition, HPD is recognized to award points in LEED credits for sustainable construction.

Circular Economy

What is the circular economy?

In a world increasingly aware of the limits of natural resources and environmental impacts, the circular economy emerges as a transformative and necessary model. Unlike the traditional linear approach of “take, make, dispose”, the circular economy proposes a system in which products, materials and resources remain in use for as long as possible, minimizing waste and environmental impact.
At the core of the circular economy is the principle of closing the life cycle of products. This involves designing goods and services that can be repaired, reused, recycled or reconditioned.
Instead of becoming waste at the end of their useful life, products are reintegrated into the economic cycle, generating new values and minimizing the use of natural resources.

At EQUIPE, our waste managers use methods that allow for recovery, prolonging the life of the product.

Thanks to these practices, in 2023 we will be able to recover 99% of the waste generated in our production process.

Recycling plays a crucial role in the circular economy. At EQUIPE, we have a system for segregating plastic waste from packaging, with the aim of returning these materials to our external supplier for later reuse. Likewise, the plastic used in our processes  is 100% recyclable.

100% of the cardboard used at EQUIPE comes from recycled material.

Additionally, all the cardboard discarded during the order preparation process is reincorporated into the packaging system, thus reintegrating into the production cycle. This allows us to reduce annual consumption by approximately 12,500 corner protectors, equivalent to 2,437.5 kg of cardboard.
EQUIPE has a rigorous supplier approval procedure and a Sustainable Purchasing Policy. The implementation of these policies ensures that our suppliers operate in a socially responsible and environmentally conscious manner.

Industrial wastewater is subject to rigorous treatment, which allows it to be reincorporated into the process. With this initiative, we promote a more efficient and sustainable water use cycle, aligning ourselves with our commitments to environmental responsibility and resource conservation.

The wastewater is channeled to settling ponds, to be subsequently reused, the sludge is collected by an authorized manager and recycled in sprayers.

Recycling of cooked and raw earth is a process that we implement to promote sustainability, reducing the extraction of new natural resources and decreasing the volume of waste.
